travel trailer dreamin'

Well how could we resist looking around at some trailers while in Quartzsite - they seem to be for sale on every corner.

Here are two that we really love - the layouts are just right for us even if the price tags are not.

The Passport is probably our favourite of the two - but both have a bedroom at the front and a bedroom with bunks in the back which is perfect for Cassia. They also both have the kitchen/living/dining in the middle with a slide out.

Oh dare to dream....

one last walk

More pictures from another rocky desert walk with Cassia. It was really cold on our last day there and windy but we weren't deterred.

these shoes are made for walking

ok so back to Cassia again. She was in desperate need of new shoes - particularly with our rocky surroundings. The little flower slipper numbers just weren't cutting it especially when we took a walk through some mud at one of the rest stops.

So while in Walmart in Parker we looked for some new ones. We decided that the boys 'work boot' was just the thing until Cassia gave them a test run. Nope - can't make her walk in moon boots.

In the end we got these - hardly sufficient for the rocks but will have to do until we can find something else. They are hard to get on and off and wonder why they were designed like this for a toddler. The plus side of course is that they don't come off while she is walking.

Although cold here yesterday we went for a walk. The sweater she is wearing, albeit large on her, was my sweater when I was a toddler.

a new kind of residential architecture

So this blog is supposed to be about design - not just our travels and everything Cassia. We decided to drive around Quartzsite the other day to see the neighbourhoods. I use the term 'neighbourhoods' loosely here since Q isn't really a town. It is really a collection of motorhomes this time of year. However, we did find one new area with permanent houses. A bit sparse and many for sale. The best part was that it offers a view of a new type of house. One where you can pull up in your HUGE motorhome and park in your HUGE garage.

Here are three pics. The first is the entry level - pretty basic - 1/2 house, 1/2 garage. The next is a step up. The third is the most amazing. How much space does one need. This 'house' is the largest in the neighbourhood. Really quite amazing.

Murray Farm - east of Bakersfield

We stopped at Murray Farms to pick up some fresh fruit. Cassia sure enjoyed the petting zoo outside and walking around the grounds. The temp was still a bit cool and it was early morning - 8:00 am so still misty. We all had fun sampling the free fruit pieces and then enjoyed our purchases at breakfast.

rest area respite

Here are some pics from the last few days. We have enjoyed the rest stops which have given us all a chance to get some fresh air and stretch our legs. Cassia has really enjoyed them.

on our way

so here we are in Quincy, Washington - just southeast of Wenatchee. Not a very large city - we went for dinner - hadn't eaten since breakfast! yikes and then found a hotel. Exciting to be on our way - praying for great weather and a safe trip. More to come soon including some pictures.
